Andrei Badalov Found Dead After Fall From 17th Floor Building
According to a Telegram channel, 62-year-old Andrei Badalov sent a farewell text message to his wife, despite the fact that she died in 2018.
A vice president at Russian state-owned oil pipeline operator Transneft has been found dead outside his apartment building in Moscow, in what investigators are treating as suicide.
Andrei Badalov who lived on the 10th floor reportedly fell to his death from the 17th floor of the building on Friday morning, local outlets Baza, Mash and Shot said.
According to the Telegram channel ‘112’, the 62-year-old sent a farewell text message to his wife, despite the fact that she died in 2018.
A source told TASS, the state-controlled Russian news agency, that the preliminary cause of death was suicide.
His daughter told the VChK-OGPU outlet that Badalov had seemed emotionally exhausted in recent weeks but had not spoken of suicidal thoughts.
“I don’t know how it happened, maybe it was an accident, or maybe someone drove him to it… He didn’t leave me any notes,” the Moscow Times reported.
This is at least the 11th mysterious death of a senior oil and gas executive, including top managers at Lukoil, Gazprom, Novatek and others, since the beginning of Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Badalov had served as Transneft’s vice president since 2021, overseeing digital transformation and IT operations.
He previously worked at the Voskhod Research Institute.
