The presidency has reacted to the recent claims by Nigerian Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential candidate Peter Obi that his life is under threat, describing the allegations as false and full of lies.
Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made the remarks in a post shared on his X account on Wednesday.
Onanuga was reacting to a viral interview clip in which Obi claimed that he was being targeted by the Tinubu-led APC administration. He alleged that his vehicle was stopped at an airport and expressed fear that he might not be alive to participate in the 2027 general election.
Responding, the presidential aide described Obi’s allegations as “unfounded and misleading,” accusing the former Anambra governor of attempting to blame the government for personal inconveniences.
