163 golfers to compete as Ilorin golf club marks 50th anniversary - Daily Trust
A total of 163 golfers from across Nigeria are set to participate in the Ilorin Golf Club’s 50th Anniversary Amateur Open Golf Tournament, scheduled for November 8, marking a major milestone in the club’s illustrious history.
Founded in June 1975 during the administration of Colonel Ibrahim Taiwo, the club was established to promote and strengthen the game of golf in Kwara State. Over the past five decades, it has evolved into one of Nigeria’s most respected golf institutions, nurturing talent and contributing significantly to sports tourism in the country.
The two-day golden jubilee celebration will begin on Saturday with the arrival of golfers, practice rounds, a ceremonial tee-off, and a welcome cocktail. A special Captains’ Event will also be held to honour past club captains for their contributions to the club’s development. The main tournament will then take place on Sunday, featuring both amateur and professional golfers.
