Overview

The United States Africa Command (US AFRICOM) has assured the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) of enhanced collaboration in the fight against illicit drugs in Nigeria.

A statement by Femi Babafemi, NDLEA spokesperson, said a delegation of senior US AFRICOM officials met with Buba Marwa, chairman and chief executive officer of the agency, on Tuesday.

Babafemi said the delegation commended the existing relationship between NDLEA and AFRICOM and pledged to strengthen partnership in tackling drug trafficking and related crimes.

Philip Esch, leader of the delegation and US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) liaison to AFRICOM, described the relationship between NDLEA and the US-DEA as highly important to the US government.
