Sanwo-Olu to commission reconstructed roads in Agege, Igando, Ikotun

Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to commission two major roads on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, as part of efforts to improve infrastructure and ease traffic across the state.

According to a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, the projects include the reconstructed Abaranje Road in Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Old Dopemu) Road in Agege Local Government Area.

The commissioner noted that the roads are part of a broader initiative that has delivered 36 roads and five bridges to residents so far this year. He said the administration remains committed to building sustainable communities, improving road connectivity, and completing ongoing infrastructure projects despite economic challenges.

Describing Old Dopemu Road as a vital route connecting Akowonjo Road, Old Ipaja Road, and the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Omotoso said it serves both Agege and Alimosho local councils. He added that Abaranje Road is a strategic route within Igando, one of the largest settlements in Alimosho. The government said the projects have helped to reduce flooding, shorten travel time, and facilitate smoother traffic flow, while also boosting commercial activity and transportation in the area.
