Umeozor Benedict emerges UNILAG’s best graduating student with perfect 5.0 CGPA
         Umeozor Benedict of the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Management Sciences, has emerged as the overall best graduating student of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) with a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.0 at the institution’s 56th convocation.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, disclosed this on Wednesday during a press conference held at the Senate Building ahead of the convocation ceremonies scheduled to hold from January 20 to 22 at various venues on the Akoka campus.

Ogunsola announced that 617 out of 10,584 undergraduate students will graduate with First Class degrees, representing 5.8 per cent of the total undergraduate graduating population.

She added that the university will confer a total of 16,506 degrees, diplomas, and certificates on graduands across undergraduate and postgraduate levels during the three-day event.

Details released by the institution show that 10,584 students will receive first degrees and diplomas, while 5,782 will be awarded postgraduate degrees. Another 140 graduands are to receive certificates from the UNILAG Business School.

On undergraduate classifications, the vice-chancellor said 617 students will graduate with First Class honours, 92 with Distinction, 4,543 with Second Class Upper Division, and 3,910 with Second Class Lower Division.

She further disclosed that 1,023 students will earn Third Class degrees, 69 will graduate with Pass, while 330 students fall under the unclassified category.

For postgraduate programmes, Ogunsola stated that 502 graduands will be awarded Distinction, while 5,420 will graduate with Pass degrees.
