Keyamo in talks with Qatars Barzan Holdings to boost aviation security
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo, is in talks with Qatar’s military investment arm, Barzan Holdings, to strengthen aviation safety through the deployment of military-grade surveillance and defence technologies.
The Minister’s Special Assistant on Digital Media, Mr Saka Gbenga, disclosed this on X, formerly Twitter. According to the statement, the Barzan Holdings team led by their Regional Manager Africa, Thamer Al Emadi, met with the Minister in Abuja to discuss collaboration aimed at closing existing gaps in the country’s air transport sector and security infrastructure.
The statement said the core agenda of the meeting included “fixing the blind spots: modernising radar systems to look beyond the current 5,000-foot limit and deploying advanced counter-drone (C-UAV) tech and jammers to protect airports and Air Force bases.
“Global tech integration: leveraging partnerships to bring command and control surveillance systems to Nigerian soil.
“Military synergy: a collaborative push with the Nigerian Air Force to ensure seamless detection of aerial and ground threats.
“Economic gratitude and growth: the Minister acknowledged Qatar Airways’ longstanding commitment to Nigeria and called for increased investment in local capacity to further support industry development.”
